Green Fur Kidz, Inc.

Green Fur Kidz, Inc. (GFK) has been a 501(c)(3) rescue since 2011 & we would love to help out by rescuing your shelter dogs that are in danger of euthanasia.  We are a publicly owned non profit concentrating on rescuing dogs at immediate euthanasia risk in high kill shelters that are not human/dog aggressive.  We are all foster home based & comprised 100% of volunteers.  Our foster families are spending their time nuturing their little charges & getting them ready to go off to their adopting families.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at adoptions@greenfurkidz.com.  Our 2019 Board of Executive Directors (pictured left to right below) are Jen Howe Rosen, Meli Garthwait Green & Tessa Schoen.

Who are we as humans & what do we do?

 Meli Garthwait is a life long animal lover & advocate.  Born on a farm in rural Oxford, Meli grew up around farm animals & her mother was an animal rescuer whom also had her own rescue to help dogs & cats avoid euthanasia at her local pounds.  Meli attended WCSU for general studies, is a graduate of Gibbs College & is a graduate of FIT in NYC with a BFA in Interior Design.  Meli is an Interior Designer, licensed Realtor with Coldwell Banker (donating 50% of her net profits to dog rescue until 10/10/20)& is a member of ASID.  She is very active in her community & frequently spearheads coastal shoreline & marsh clean ups as well as working as a volunteer in the local bird sanctuary.  Meli lives with her partner in crime, Tommy, & her fluffy fur kidz, Rori, Calla & Lily as well as her step sons Caleb & Liam whom visit on the weekends & love to help out with the foster dogs that are frequently rotating through her home.  She loves to rescue all breeds but her heart is with the underdogs - the bully breeds.   Meli's breeds that she one day would love to make a part of her family include the Dogue De Bordeaux & the Staffordshire Bull Terrier but her heart will always be with the French Bulldog.
